John’s unique corner property is located at a street end on a bike route, abutting both an alley and a ravine park. John really wanted a rain garden, but there was no space for one – his yard features a beautiful koi pond, and much of the other space is taken up by a three-car garage. “Unfortunately I could only get cisterns,” said John. “But at least the deck over the garage qualified as “roof” area, and increased my rebate and the volume of stormwater being managed.”
Contractor Aaron Buchholz neatly tucked three slim-line Bushman tanks into two spaces – where they are out of sight but still accessible, and can hold an impressive 1,590 gallons. So far John hasn’t used the water in the summer, but he’s considering adding a pump so he could top off his pond with cistern water.
